Let's See If You Qualify

Who can apply to the Virginia State Employee Assistance Fund (VSEAF)? The Virginia State Employee Assistance Fund (VSEAF) Grant Program has been created for Virginia state employees who are in need as the result of a recent unforeseen crisis or emergency. Active Virginia state employees can apply for assistance (including full- time and part-time employees but not contractors) who do not have an existing assistance fund in their agency. Grants are funded solely by contributions from CVC and are limited to the funds available and raised.

Eligibility Checklist

Below are the criteria that need to be met for the application.

Criteria 1

I attest that all the information I am providing on this form, and the information I will apply on my application is accurate to the best of my knowledge.

Criteria 2

I am aware that my employment will be verified.

Criteria 3

I am a part-time or full-time classified state employee who has been employed with the Commonwealth of Virginia for at least 12 months.

Criteria 4

I have not applied for a VSEAF grant in the past 12 months.

Criteria 5

I am not an employee of the Virginia Department of Corrections, VCU Health Systems, or UVA. The following have programs established for employees to seek assistance. *VCU (academic) employees and UVA Medical employees are still eligible.

Criteria 6

The emergency has initially occurred within the past 90 days.

Criteria 7

I am not requesting this grant for a hardship due to increases in cost of living, fuel costs, home heating, refundable deposits, lawyer fees, garnishments, car maintenance, home maintenance, routinely anticipated bills, or a worker's compensation case.

Criteria 8

My request will be for $500 or less and I understand can not be for future costs, estimates, or any expenses that have yet to be incurred.

Criteria 9

My request is connected to an unforeseen emergency situation. (Typically employees request funds due to serious emergencies, i.e. fire to home or property and unforeseen costs due to death or illness of a loved one.)

Criteria 10

I am aware, if awarded a grant, that the grant is paid directly to a company or creditor and not directly to me as the applicant, even as a reimbursement. VSEAF does not have the ability to award grants directly to applicants.
