Commonwealth
of Virginia Campaign
The Commonwealth of Virginia Campaign is the state employee workplace giving program that supports over 1,400 local, state, national and international charities. Since its founding in 1997, the campaign has raised over $ 25 million.
Employee Assistance
Program
All health plans offered to state employees and their dependents have employee assistance programs (EAPs) for such services as mental health, alcohol or drug abuse assessment, child or elder care, grief counseling and legal or financial services.
Employee Suggestion Program
The Employee Suggestion Program is open to all state employees and encourages innovative thinking in the workplace. Employees may receive cash awards, paid time off or a certificate of achievement from the Governor for accepted awards. The program has resulted in nearly $1 million in savings from suggestions.
Employee Service Recognition Awards
Service Recognition Programs especially reward employees who choose to make their careers with the Commonwealth of Virginia. Specific vendors provide items for recognition events.
Healthy Virginians
State employees are encouraged to walk more and eat less through this workplace program. Since its inception, state employees have logged miles equal to walking around the world 11 times.
Veterans Outreach
This site provides links to a variety of resources for veterans, including employment opportunities and assistance, veteran services and upcoming events related to veterans.
Virginia Public Service Week
Public Service Week is held during the first full week in May and provides the opportunity to highlight the activities of the state workforce. Included in the week's activities is presentation of Governor's Awards to outstanding state employees.
Wellness
Program
Since 1986 the Commonwealth of Virginia has offered state employees a workplace wellness program that encourages healthy life choices and offers assistance to quit smoking.
Work Life Program
The Commonwealth offers a variety of work-life policies, including telecommuting and educational assistance, to improve balance between work and home life.
