Preventing and resolving conflict at the earliest opportunity and lowest possible level saves agencies both time and money. Employees with good skills in collaborative problem-solving and conflict resolution help sustain a positive, productive workplace where conflict is addressed constructively, allowing employees to focus on service excellence.
The Code of Virginia states that all state agencies in the executive branch must require their supervisory personnel to be trained in conflict resolution and the grievance procedure. To assist agencies with this mandate, EDR offers a variety of training options in conflict management skills and the grievance procedure for all supervisors and employees.
EDR can deliver conflict management and grievance procedure training specific to your agency's needs at our office location or at an agency site of your choosing. This service is based on the availability of EDR training staff. We offer many agency-specific training courses at no charge, with the exception of the trainer's travel-related expenses consistent with state travel regulations.

Regional Open Training Sessions
Budget permitting, EDR will organize regional open-registration training classes both in the Richmond metro area and at other locations around the Commonwealth. Our goal is to provide conflict management and grievance procedure training to all state employees, including those who may not be able to attend training sessions in Richmond. See our Training Schedule for a list of upcoming training opportunities in your area.
See Course Descriptions for more information about the training courses we currently offer. Certain EDR courses provide required credits toward the Commonwealth's Managing Virginia Program (MVP) certification. Contact EDR at 888-232-3842 (select option 4) to discuss any aspect of our training program in more detail.
